    Things to know before booking
    FAQ

Is the water safe to drink?
The water in the cabins is safe to drink and tested regularly. The water goes through 3 purification systems -filters, UV and chlorine. We just ask that you let the water run for a few minutes before drinking it.

There is also a well in front of the residence which you are welcome to use if you chose. Many of our guests enjoy and prefer this water. Please note the well water system is not tested.

    Are there bugs or critters?
Depending on the season, you’ll encounter bugs of all sorts particularly mosquitos and black flies. Bugs and wildlife are a reality of our location. Guests should come prepared with bug spray and proper protective attire.

While we do our best to protect our cabins from pesky critters they can sometimes find their way into the cabin. We will do out best to help you manage the situation if this does occur. It’s important to keep your food sealed and stored, not leave garbage outside your cabin and try not to feed the wildlife.

    Can I bring additional guests?
Any additional guests beyond what is registered with the reservation must first be approved by management.

    Do you have laundry facilities?
We do not have laundry facilities onsite however there are 2 laundromats in Huntsville.

Do you have WIFI or TVs?
We believe part of the experience of coming to the cottage is leaving the distractions behind. There are no TVs at The Pines however there is WiFi available if needed.

Our Wifi doesn’t reach most of our cabins and must be within the vicinity of the office to gain access. We have a bench and chairs around the office for you to sit.

Cell coverage is decent here and can access your data plans in your cabins if needed.

    Is there someone onsite?
There will always be someone available to assist with any guests needs throughout the day. In the event we are off property for a few hours we will always leave a note at the office door with contact information. There is an onsite manager for late arrivals and in the event of an emergency. We also have first aid equipment and a defibrillator onsite.

Are there quiet hours and can we play our music?
Considering The Pines is in a small community there is a no noise policy after 11pm for the respect of all our guests and neighbours.

In regards to music we ask that guests use headphones as our property is small and can affect the experience our other guests are going for.

Can we set fireworks off on your property?
Fireworks are strictly prohibited at The Pines for the safety and comfort of all our guests.

Do the cabins have heat or A/C?
All of the cabins are equipped with electric baseboard heaters for the cooler weather in the spring and the fall. None of the cabins are equipped with A/C but we will provide a fan for each cabin.

What happens if there is a power outage?
In the event of a power outage, we have a back-up generator. This generator will only be providing energy to keep our water system operating. During a power outage you will not have the use of your appliances or lights. You can still use your BBQ for cooking. We will be running the generator sporadically throughout the day, usually around meal times. Please take advantage of the water facilities when the generator is in operation. The generator will not be running throughout the night. A flashlight will be provided in your cabin. Management will communicate with you when power is expected to return.
